Mazda Recalls 10K 2024 CX-90 Hybrids

Mazda is recalling 9,914 CX-90 Hybrid vehicles due to a potential issue with the forward collision warning system.

All affected vehicles are 2024 models. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety-

Administration (NHTSA), the issue may cause the brakes to activate suddenly, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fault occurs at low speeds between 10 and 15 mph when the smart brake system (SBS) mistakenly detects objects in the vehicle's path and-

brakes to avoid what it perceives as an impending collision. The system is especially prone to mistaking reflections or large metal-

usual, the sudden braking could still heighten the risk of an accident, according to the NHTSA.

Mazda will notify affected owners by mail, instructing them to bring their CX-90 to a local dealership.

Dealers will reprogram the vehicle control module (VCM) with updated software at no cost to the owner.

Mazda believes this software update will resolve the issue without needing further repairs.

Dealers were informed earlier in May, and owner notification letters are expected to be mailed before July 17.
