Volkswagen has announced a slight price increase for its gas and diesel models in Germany, ranging from 2.1% to 4.2%.
There have been some changes in the pricing of vehicle equipment options, which may result in higher costs.
The price increase will only impact the 2025 model lineup, except the Polo hatchback.
The prices for Taigo crossovers will be increasing by €490 ($541).
The Touareg SUV will have a price increase of €2,490 ($2,790).
The VW Golf hatchback is experiencing a 4.2% increase, resulting in prices rising by €1,150 ($1,270).
Customers are welcome to place orders at the current prices until September 11. Please note that starting September 12, new prices will be in effect.
Local dealers were informed of the news through a letter.
Unfortunately, the price adjustment does not cover the ID family of electric vehicles.
There is a possibility of future changes to EV pricing. Optional equipment such as sunroofs and infotainment systems also experience price increases.
VW has not provided any official statement regarding the reasons behind the increase in price.
Recent economic challenges may be impacting these price adjustments.
Achim Schaible had previously expressed the view that price increases were not required.
In 2023, VW also implemented a price increase for their ICE lineup.
