GM Electric Vehicle Owners Now Have Access to Tesla Charging Stations

Great news! GM EVs, like Chevy, GMC, and Cadillac, can now enjoy access to more than 17,800 Tesla Superchargers throughout the U.S. and Canada.

$225 Adapters for GM EVs: GM owners have the option to buy adapters for $225, allowing them to charge at Tesla Superchargers.

Adapter orders are now officially open: GM is now accepting orders for the Combined Charging System (CCS) to North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters!

Adapters Delivered Straight to Your Home: GM is happily sending the adapters straight to customers’ homes for free until the end of the year.

GM is Confident in the Supply of Adapters: GM has teamed up with Tesla and a third-party supplier to make sure there’s a reliable supply of adapters.

No Free Adapters Like Ford and Rivian: In contrast to Ford and Rivian, GM is opting to charge for the adapter rather than providing it at no cost.

Smooth Rollout Expected for GM: GM is looking forward to a smoother rollout of Supercharger access compared to what Ford went through, thanks to the extensive testing already completed.

Charging requires app activation: GM EV owners must use the MyCadillac, MyChevrolet, or MyGMC apps to start charging.

Ultium EVs Equipped with an Adapter: GM’s newest Ultium-powered vehicles can start charging at Superchargers immediately with an adapter.

Chevy Bolt Requires a Software Update: Chevy Bolt owners should stop by a dealer for a software update to enjoy Supercharger access.

Short charging cables can lead to parking difficulties: Tesla Superchargers have shorter cables, which-

means GM EVs might need to park a bit differently to ensure the cable can reach the charging port.

DC Fast Charging Exclusively: The adapters are designed specifically for Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC) and won't be compatible with slower AC chargers.

Superchargers are an Addition, Not the Main Focus: GM highlights that Tesla Supercharger access is simply an extra choice, with 214,000 other chargers already accessible to GM EV owners.

Expanding Partnership with EVGo: GM is excited to expand its partnership with EVGo to provide 350-kW fast chargers, introducing 400 new stalls at flagship stations.

Future Charging Stations with Amenities: GM is participating in the Ionna venture to set up 30,000 fast chargers by 2030, with many including canopies, retail options, and urban charging solutions.
