Tesla Recalls 1.85 Million Vehicles for Hood Latch Issue

Hey there, Just wanted to give you a heads up that Tesla has announced a recall of 1.85 million vehicles in the U.S. It seems there's a software issue that's-

causing a problem with detecting an unlatched hood. Stay safe out there! According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this issue can-

result in the hood unexpectedly opening while driving, which could obstruct the driver's view and potentially cause accidents.

To address the issue, Tesla started implementing an over-the-air software update in mid-June.

The new update makes sure that the software can detect when the hood is open and notifies drivers about it.

Tesla has initiated a recall after conducting an investigation into customer complaints of unintended hood openings in Model 3-

and Model Y vehicles in China. The investigation was launched in late March. During the period from mid-April to June 7, Tesla conducted an analysis of field-

samples and discovered that there was a higher occurrence of hood latch issues in China when compared to Europe and North America.

On June 7, Tesla started conducting engineering studies to examine hood latch assemblies in Europe and North America.

On July 17, the company recalled the affected vehicles as a precautionary measure. In the U.S., Tesla has identified three warranty claims or field reports-

related to this issue as of July 20. However, there have been no reported crashes, injuries, or deaths.

This recall impacts a range of vehicles, including the 2021-2024 Model 3, Model S, Model X, and 2020-2024 Model Y.

These vehicles are equipped with hood latches manufactured by Magna Closures Co. in China. This recall is the biggest one for Tesla-

since December, when it brought back 2.03 million vehicles in the U.S. to make updates to its Autopilot system.
