Audi and Porsche are recalling 34,026 electric vehicles due to some battery issues.

Audi and Porsche are recalling 34,026 electric vehicles because of some safety issues that have come up.

They're recalling it because there might be some short circuits in the high-voltage battery system, and that could lead to a fire risk.

Porsche Recall: They’re recalling 27,527 Taycan models that were made between 2020 and 2024.

Audi Recall: So, there’s a recall happening for 6,499 e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT models from the years 2022 to 2024.

So, it turns out that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has pointed to some supplier production-

issues as the reason behind these battery problems. Interestingly, drivers aren't given any prior warning signs about the risk of short circuits.

Owner Advisory: If you own one of the affected vehicles, it's a good idea to avoid charging your electric car above 80% until the issues are sorted out.

What to Expect: Porsche dealers are going to check out the battery modules and put in some updated software to make things safer.

If any batteries have issues, we'll replace them for the owners at no charge. The new software will let drivers know and limit battery charging capacity if needed.

Porsche dealerships got the heads up about the recall on October 16, and owners should look out for notification letters by November 29.

Just a heads up, Taycan models made after April 3, 2024, and Audi cell modules produced after May 27, 2023, won’t be impacted by this recall.

Keep yourself updated on your vehicle's safety and make sure to stick to the guidelines from the manufacturers.
