Nissan has issued a recall for more than 1,100 Ariya models in the United States.
This is due to a current sensor issue that may activate a fail-safe mode.
There have been previous recalls associated with this issue. In September 2023, there was a recall of almost 10,000 Ariyas manufactured from June-
2022 to May 2023 due to a common issue that required an inverter reprogramming. Several of those vehicles were-
repaired, but this latest recall impacts models that did not receive the initial fix.
There is an issue with the current sensor in the battery junction box that could detect a gap in the electric motor's current frequency when traveling at high speeds.
In the event of this occurrence, the Power Electronics Box will promptly cut power to the motor, resulting in the car unexpectedly losing power.
This, unfortunately, heightens the potential for a collision. To resolve the issue, you'll need to power off the car and then restart it.
The recall affects a total of 1,188 Nissan Ariya models manufactured from September 8,
2022, to May 8, 2023, which includes both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive variants.
Owners will receive notification regarding the recall on September 9. Dealers will update the Power Electronic Box for-
rear-wheel drive models, and reprogram both front and rear inverters for all-wheel drive models.
