Are you on the hunt for an electric delivery van? Mercedes-Benz has you covered with the eSprinter,
providing up to 252 miles of range, making it ideal for navigating urban areas.
Mercedes is just getting started—they have exciting plans for their electric van lineup, and those plans are now entering the testing phase.
They are currently testing a flexible architecture on public roads, which will serve as the foundation for all their future vans beginning in 2026.
Even though the new van is all covered up, it definitely resembles a van. It’s a box made to hold other boxes, featuring two sliding rear doors and a roomy rear hatch
What’s truly exciting is what’s going on beneath the surface. Mercedes’ new modular electric architecture, called Van.EA is similar to a Lego set for vans.
It utilizes three modules to create both commercial and personal vans. The front section is the same for everyone, featuring an EV powertrain.
The middle section plays a key role in defining the cargo space length and roof height, along with standardized battery sizes.
The rear module can be equipped with a motor for all-wheel-drive or can be without it for front-wheel-drive.
It's even smaller than the eSprinter! While specifics are still being kept a secret, Mercedes has suggested that this new structure will pave-
the way for both commercial applications and a luxury van for the U.S., addressing the gap left by the Metris.
Additionally, they have plans for full-sized and mid-sized camper vans. While these might not lead you deep into the wilderness like-
traditional models, they will create a cozy base camp with plenty of power for all your creature comforts.
Mercedes plans to have 20% of its van fleet electric by 2026 and is excited to aim for 50% by 2030.
In addition to its commercial applications, the luxury mid-size van would be ideal for transporting VIPs—an idea that's really gaining popularity in China.
There haven't been any specs leaked so far, just a few teaser photos to enjoy. Wouldn't it be amazing to imagine an AMG version with a-
touch of EQS53 magic underneath? It’s the sort of thing that the late German racing legend Sabine Schmitz would have really enjoyed.
