Mercedes AMG plans 585 hp V8 for the AMG CLE 63
Fans have always loved Mercedes-AMG's famous V8 engines, which are known for making rumbling exhaust sounds.
This is true even though the engines weren't always very responsive.
As AMG cars got better over the years and became better cars for drivers, their louder engine sounds helped make them more famous.
New models with a four-cylinder PHEV engine, like the C 63 and E 63, have been criticized for being too-
heavy and boring, even though they have more power and better speed.
AMG's CEO had earlier denied claims that these models would get a V8 engine again, but new-
reports from Autocar say that the upcoming AMG CLE 63 will have a V8 engine again.
This decision was made because of lower sales of the newest C 63 and E 63 models compared to-
their V8 predecessors and dealer worries that customers might get confused between the powertrains.
Autocar reports that the CLE 63 will have a mild hybrid V8 engine with 585 horsepower.
This will put it directly in competition with the BMW M4, which has a twin-turbo inline-six engine with 542 horsepower.
Mercedes might switch back to V8 engines in AMG models in the future, based on how the market reacts and what customers want-
as Markus Schäfer, head of Mercedes-Benz R&D, pointed out at the Beijing Motor Show.
