Issue Identified: Kia America has discovered an issue with some of the 2024 Kia EV9 vehicles.

Affected Models: So the recall is for the EV9 Land and EV9 GT-Line models

Production Dates: So, if your vehicle was made between September 25, 2023, and May 28, 2024, it's part of the recall.

Problematic Feature: There's a problem with the Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 (RSPA 2) system.

Parking Capabilities: RSPA 2 lets you park remotely in all kinds of spaces—whether they're perpendicular, parallel, or diagonal.

Plus, you can easily get out of those parking spots with just the push of a button.

Brake Issue: Making repeated stops at or below 2 mph might not give you enough brake pressure.

Supplier: The software is from HL Mando in Korea. Recall Reason: There's a higher chance of pedestrians getting hurt because the brake pressure isn't enough.

No Cost to Owners: Kia offers a free update for the integrated electronic brake software.

Number of Vehicles: About 12,400 vehicles are part of this recall. Owner Notification: Owners can expect to receive a mail update around October 18, 2024.

VIN Check: Owners can hop onto Kia’s website to see if their vehicle is impacted by using the 17-character VIN.

Incident Trigger: Kia found out about the issue following an incident that happened in Korea on September 2, 2024.

Improved Software: The new software makes sure that there’s enough brake pressure in every situation, which is a nice improvement.
