Ford has officially unveiled the Ford Ranger PHEV at the 2024 IAA Transportation show in Germany.
The Ford Ranger PHEV was first offered in the Stormtrak launch edition, designed just for the plug-in hybrid model.
Buyers can select from Wildtrak and XLT trims when the truck is available.
Every version comes with a turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, much like the one found in the Focus ST, and it's paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The hybrid system features a 75.0-kilowatt electric motor with an 11.8 kWh lithium-ion battery.
The Ford Ranger PHEV offers an impressive 275 horsepower and a robust 509 lb-ft of torque.
This torque figure exceeds that of the top-tier Raptor, which offers 362 lb-ft in Europe and 430 lb-ft in the US.
In the US, a software tune for the Ranger Raptor can unlock an impressive 536 lb-ft of torque, surpassing the PHEV.
It takes under four hours to fully charge the battery, giving you a 28-mile electric-only range according to the WLTP cycle.
The battery comes with Pro Power Onboard to power tools, offering options for a 2.3-kW setup and an extra 6.9-kW option.
The Ford Ranger PHEV has a maximum payload capacity of 2,204 pounds and can tow up to 7,716 pounds.
The Stormtrak edition has some great features, such as matrix LED headlights, a 360-degree camera, and a B&O sound system.
Some extra features are Pro Trailer Backup Assist, 18-inch wheels, fender vents, and a rack system.
The Stormtrak comes in fun color choices like Chill Grey and Agate Black, featuring a unique honeycomb grille.
European deliveries are anticipated in spring 2025, after production in South Africa, and there are no current plans for a US launch.
