Ferrari is gearing up to electrify the luxury car market with its first fully electric vehicle, set to debut in late 2025.
According to Autocar, the iconic prancing horse brand will launch its inaugural battery-electric car the following year.
Benedetto Vigna, Ferrari's CEO, confirmed the news and shared that prototype testing is already well underway.
"We have prototypes on the road that have logged several thousand kilometers, driven by our highly qualified test drivers," Vigna remarked.
Uniquely positioned to offer feedback, these test drivers will help ensure Ferrari's electric models retain their distinctive feel.
Built with Precision: This groundbreaking vehicle will be crafted at Ferrari’s state-of-the-art E-building, located just north of its Maranello campus.
Spanning approximately 450,000 square feet, this facility boasts cutting-edge technology designed specifically for Ferrari’s electric ambitions.
"The full electric Ferrari demands new technologies, components, and processes," Vigna explained in an interview with TopGear.
"We want to design, engineer, and handcraft these innovations here in Maranello."
A Legacy of Innovation: While the idea of an electric Ferrari might seem revolutionary, the brand is no stranger to innovation.
From pioneering KERS technology in the 2009 Formula 1 season to introducing the hybrid LaFerrari in 2013 and more-
recently, the plug-in-hybrid SF90 Stradale, Ferrari has consistently evolved with the times.
Details about Ferrari's first electric car remain scarce, with executives keeping tight-lipped about specifics like powertrain setup and performance.
However, speculation suggests the new model could be priced around $500,000, aligning with a recent Reuters report estimating a starting cost of $535,000.
Stay tuned for more updates on what promises to be a landmark moment in luxury electric cars.
