Breaking: Dodge Recall 2024 - What Owners Must Know Now

In a significant automotive safety announcement, Dodge and Alfa Romeo owners should pay attention - particularly if you've got a 2024 Dodge Hornet or a recent Alfa Romeo Tonale (2024-2025 models).

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has discovered a pretty serious brake issue that could leave drivers in a tight spot.

Here's what's happening: About 21,000 vehicles might have a brake pedal that could suddenly give out without warning.

While thankfully no one's been hurt, there has been one accident reported, along with several brake failures that caught drivers off guard.

The good news? The fix is surprisingly straightforward. Dealers just need to install a bolt and nut to strengthen the brake assembly - a quick 30-minute job that won't cost owners a penny.

Looking at the repair photos, it seems they're adding the bolt through an existing hole in the brake housing near the firewall.

Though interestingly, there's still some mystery about whether this bolt was supposed to be there from the start or if it's replacing one that worked loose.

Safety tip: If you ever find yourself in a situation where the brake pedal fails, remember you've got backup options.

The electronic parking brake still works even while you're moving, and the automatic emergency braking system stays active no matter what.

But of course, it's best to maintain control of your vehicle before any emergency systems need to kick in.

Some interesting background: The Dodge Hornet makes up the bulk of this recall with nearly 17,000 affected vehicles.

FCA first heard about this issue back in November 2023, but the full investigation by Stellantis (FCA's parent company) didn't kick off until September 2024.

By October 1st, they had collected 12 reports worldwide that seemed related to this problem.

It's worth noting that FCA is leading the pack in recalls this year - and not in a good way.

They've had to issue 54 recalls affecting over 4.2 million vehicles in 2024 alone, making them the most recalled automaker in the U.S. this year.
