Ariel Nomad 2 Major Upgrade with 305 HP, 382 LB-FT
Evolution and Design - Simon Saunders, the director of Ariel, recently shared the story behind the creation of the Nomad.
It all started when a customer approached them with a unique request - they wanted an Atom with exceptional suspension travel.
The second-generation Nomad 2 has been developed based on the valuable insights gained from years of experience in building numerous Nomads.
The only components left from the original Nomad are the steering wheel, pedal box, and fuel cap.
With the introduction of larger frame tubing, stiffness has been increased by an impressive 65%.
The new design features-
a larger footprint, with a longer wheelbase and wider track. This results in increased cockpit space and improved ease of entry.
Engine and Performance - We switched from Honda engines to the turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder Ford Focus ST engine because it was getting hard to source the Honda ones.
The Base Nomad 2 boasts an impressive power output of 260 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque.
With the optional upgrade, you'll have access to three different engine maps that can deliver an impressive 305 horsepower and 382 pound-feet of torque.
The vehicle comes equipped with a standard six-speed manual gearbox, and for those seeking a more advanced option, there is the choice-
of the Quaife six-speed sequential transmission.
This vehicle has a lightweight build, weighing in at around 1,550 pounds.
It can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, and then reach 100 mph in an additional 4.1 seconds.
Braking performance is improved with larger rotors that have a 40% increase in swept area, along with the addition of ABS.
Enhanced engine cooling is achieved through a radiator that is 2.5 times larger, along with the addition of multiple intake air filters.
Suspension and Handling - Our latest suspension geometry features fully sealed bushings and ball joints, providing an impressive 50% increase in travel.
We use reliable K-tec dampers paired with the high-performance Eibach dual-rate springs.
There are some suspension systems you can choose from, such as Ohlins TTX dampers and Bilstein two-stage dampers with remote reservoirs.
Choose from a variety of wheel options, including 16-inch alloys, 16-inch beadlocks, or 18-inch lightweight forged units.
