Ford has shifted its focus away from the car segment and is now dedicating its resources to its most successful product lines in the United States—SUVs and trucks.
The 2025 Expedition, now in its fifth generation, showcases this focus with some exciting updates.
This year has brought some exciting improvements, such as the new Tremor off-road trim, a larger display, and a handy split tailgate inspired by the Lincoln Navigator.
The Expedition keeps its impressive size, closely resembling the dimensions of the previous model.
The vehicle, in its standard form, measures 209.9 inches in length and has a wheelbase of 122.5 inches.
The Max variant measures 221.7 inches in length and has a wheelbase of 131.5 inches. Both versions are 80.0 inches wide, with the standard model standing at 78.1 inches tall and the Max at 78.0 inches tall.
The vehicle is powered by the EcoBoost 3.5-liter V-6 engine, which provides an impressive 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque.
This engine is included as a standard feature in the Active, King Ranch, and Platinum trims. The Tremor trim comes with a more powerful High Output-
- version, delivering 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, while it's an optional feature for the Platinum trim. A 10-speed automatic transmission sends power to the wheels in both setups.
The interior of the Expedition has been thoughtfully redesigned, swapping out the previous portrait-oriented tablet for a more streamlined layout.
The vehicle features a 24.0-inch panoramic digital display along with a 13.2-inch touchscreen, making it quite impressive.
Physical controls are still in place, and there's a new electrically adjustable center console that can slide back almost eight inches with just a button press.
A great feature is the split tailgate, which can support up to 500 pounds, making it perfect for tailgating fun. This tailgate comes with a handy built-in seatback-
- that can also be used as a table, plus it has power outlets in the cargo area for your convenience. It's a common feature in all trims and is operated electrically.
The Tremor variant comes with 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires and provides 10.6 inches of ground clearance.
It features improved engine performance, underbody protection, Raptor-inspired running boards, a front skid plate, and a Rock Crawl mode.
The suspension has been adjusted for off-road performance and features an electronic locking rear differential, along with unique orange accents that are also found on other Tremor models.
The Expedition can tow up to 7,000 pounds without a weight-distributing hitch, and this capacity increases to 9,600 pounds when you use one.
Wheel sizes vary from 20 to 24 inches, equipped with 285/40R24 tires. The 2025 Expedition incorporates Ford's latest BlueCruise-
- hands-free highway driving technology, featuring a lane-change hands-free function activated via the turn signal.
The order books open on October 24, with availability at dealerships expected next spring. Pricing begins at $61,700, excluding destination charges, representing an-
- increase of approximately $6,000 compared to the previous model. There is an expectation of alternatives to the uniquely shaped squircle steering wheel.
