"If you build it, they will come." While this famous line from "Field of Dreams" was meant for Kevin Costner and the 1918 Chicago White Sox, it seems Audi took a-

page out of that book by bringing their RS 6 Avant, a wagon, to the U.S. And guess what? People loved it! BMW noticed the excitement and decided it wasn't such a wild idea after all.

Enter the 2025 BMW M5 Touring, the first M5 wagon to hit U.S. roads straight from the factory. This isn't the first M5-

Touring BMW has made; earlier models like the E34 (1992) and E61 (2007) had their own wagon versions.

Essentially, the Touring is another body style of the 2025 BMW M5, which debuted back in June. It features the same plug-in hybrid powertrain with-

a whopping 717 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, making it more powerful than both the RS 6 Avant and the AMG E 63 S Wagon.

The M5 Touring's 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine delivers 557 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, while the eight-speed automatic with an embedded electric-

motor adds 194 hp and 207 lb-ft. All-wheel drive comes standard, and it can zoom from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds—just a tad slower than the sedan variant.

The Touring's 14.8 kWh battery provides an electric range of 25 miles, a significant improvement over Mercedes-AMG's E Performance offerings.

Most of the dynamic qualities are transferred from sedan to wagon, save for some model-specific underfloor bracing for added stability.

When it comes to space, the M5 Touring boasts a cargo area of 17.7 cubic feet, measured to the rear seatbacks—not quite comparable to the RS 6 Avant’s 30 cubic feet measured floor-to-ceiling.

With the seats down, it expands to 57.6 cubic feet, similar to other wagons. For comparison, the BMW X5 M offers up to 72.3 cubic feet.

Sticking to BMW tradition, the rear seats split 40:20:40, allowing for flexible storage options. The power, handsfree liftgate makes loading a breeze.

Unlike the sedan, the Touring comes with a standard Sky Lounge Panoramic Roof—it doesn't open but includes a power roller blind for convenience.

The 2025 BMW M5 Touring is set to go on sale later this year, built alongside the sedan in Dingolfing, Germany, with-

a starting price of $122,675, including destination fees. That’s about $4,000 less than the RS 6 Avant’s base price.

It's thrilling to finally see an M5 Touring in the U.S., but it raises the question—will BMW take the leap with its all-electric sibling, the BMW i5 Touring? Only time will tell.
