Ford Expands Self-Driving Recall to F-150s and SUVs
Recall Extension - Ford has decided to expand its recall to include models beyond the 2022-2023 Mustangs.
Other models that have been impacted include previous versions of the Mustang, F-150, Expedition, and Navigator.
Initial Recall Details - This month, a recall was announced for 30,735 Mustang vehicles from 2022-2023.
There seems to be an issue with a secondary digital torque sensor in the steering gear that has an inverted polarity.
Steering Issue - The failure of the primary steering torque sensor can result in unexpected swinging of the steering wheel from left to right.
There have been no reported accidents caused by this defect, according to Ford.
New Recall Notice - There has been a recent recall affecting a total of 7,442 units across different models manufactured between 2018 and 2023.
We have a range of models available, including Mustangs, F-150s, Expeditions, and Lincoln Navigators from 2018 to 2023.
Discovery of Issue - On May 21, 2024, Ford was made aware of the issue when a supplier brought it to their attention.
Owner Notification - Notifying the owner will require a more intricate process.
Starting August 5, owners will begin receiving alerts. Dealerships will be receiving separate letters if they have ordered parts that are under suspicion.
Dealer Responsibilities - Please note that dealers are required to reach out to customers who have purchased Electronic Power Assist Steering gears over-the-counter.
We can assist you with either providing refunds or offering software updates for the Power Steering Control Module to address the issue.
