Porsche upgrades 718 Cayman GT4 RS with $54,000 Manthey Racing Kit
For the first time in the United States, Porsche has introduced a performance kit from Manthey Racing, initially offered with the latest 911 GT3.
A Manthey equipped GT3 outperformed a standard GT3 by 0.8 seconds at Virginia International Raceway during last-
year's Lightning Lap competition. Porsche is extending this high-performance collaboration to the 718 Cayman GT4 RS,
promising notable enhancements over its impressive 2:40.5 Lightning Lap time.
The new kit primarily focuses on aerodynamics and suspension, similar to the upgrades seen on the 911 GT3.
It features an enlarged swan-neck rear wing, emerging boldly from the engine cover and providing an additional adjustment setting for optimized performance.
At speeds of approximately 124 mph, and with the wing adjusted to the "Performance" setting, it achieves a-
remarkable 372 pounds of downforce, a significant increase from the standard GT4 RS's 196 pounds.
Manthey has reinforced the engine cover with carbon fiber to accommodate this enhanced downforce and upped the front spring rates by 20 percent
The GT4 RS also sees improvements by adding steel brake lines for better pedal feel and braking power, aerobic covers on the rear-
wheels, and optional tow loops for track recovery. The Manthey kit leaves the GT4 RS's engine untouched,
maintaining the robust 493-hp output from the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six.
Available for order through Porsche dealers this summer, the Manthey Racing kit is priced at $53,946, excluding installation costs.
For an additional $5,890, buyers can customize their GT4 RS with carbon fiber front fender louvers and a gurney flap on the rear spoiler,
enhancing rear downforce by 4%. With a base price of $163,650 for the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, this kit propels the mid-engined sports car into the $200K+ territory.
